Basin Researcher & Field Researcher - Permanent position

Client: A leading global consulting & provider for critical information (energy, aerospace, automotive)

Location: Singapore

Job Nature: Permanent

Position1: Field Researcher (FR)

Responsibilities
Responsible for the population and maintenance of the field related modules of the IRIS21 database and the accurate representation of field data.
The FR may be required to substitute for the Regional Manager at short notice and be knowledgeable to the extent of publishing articles in trade journals.
This position involves some travel, primarily to industry functions and conferences.

Job functions
a. Input field data into IRIS21 database, adhering to standards
b. Write and update field development and production texts in GEPS
c. Prepare, check & annotate graphs
d. Run standard reports, including validation reports
e. Quality Control that data is complete & consistent
f. Quality control and check field outlines

Information & Research
a. Search & analyse data for field developments
b. Assist in the definition of new discoveries
c. Reserve calculations and resources assessments for all discoveries.

Special Projects
a. Implement the Validator Tool for correction and validation of data
b. Deputising for the Regional Manger (when they are travelling).
c. Assisting in the editorial content of the GEPS report and compiling Weekly Highlight report.
d. The Field Researcher may also be required to attend relevant conferences, collate field related data, present papers and publish articles in trade journals and act as a representative on behalf of IHS Energy.

The ideal candidate will have the following profile:
• Degree level in an earth science subject
• Knowledge and experience of exploration activity and process
• IT skills including the use of databases and GIS systems

Position 2: Basin Researcher (BR)

Responsibilities
Responsible for the population and maintenance of the Basin related modules of the IRIS21 database and the accurate representation of basin data in all IHS products. The Basin Researcher (BR) is responsible for the completion of a specified number of Basin Monitor reports.
The BR may be required to substitute for the Regional Director/Regional Manager at short notice and be knowledgeable to the extent of publishing articles in trade journals. This position involves some travel, primarily to industry functions and conferences.

Job functions

Basin Monitor Editing

a. Input basin data into IRIS21 database, adhering to standards (at least for 6 basins in the year).
b. Write exploration & production texts
c. Prepare, check & annotate graphs
d. Run standard reports, including validation reports
e. Quality Control that data is complete & consistent (concerns basin & field databases)

Basin Monitor & Basin Outlines - Information & Research
a. Search & analyse data for frontier basins
b. Assist in the definition of new basin outlines

Services for Regional Group
a. Create new plays on request
b. Correct/maintain stratigraphy database, on request from regional groups
c. Run validation reports and communicate necessary corrections to be made to regional groups (especially concerning missing plays, fields, and wells)

Client Support (External) including Sales (when applicable)
a. When a client orders a basin monitor that is out-of-date, quickly update the relevant chapters so that the product can be delivered in a reasonable time frame (normally about 1 week)

Special Projects
a. Implement the Basin Validator Tool for correction and validation of stratigraphic and genetic units ages.
b. Deputising for the Regional Manger/Regional Director (when they are travelling). This will include assisting in the editorial content of the GEPS report.
c. The Basin Researcher may also be required to attend relevant conferences, basin related data, present papers and publish articles in trade journals and act as a representative on behalf of IHS Energy.

Qualifications
